DC urges residents to avail 30% rebate on property tax

Deputy commissioner Makrand K Pandurang urged the residents to avail 30% rebate on property tax which would be available till December 31. Talking to mediapersons on Monday, the Ambala DC clarified that the tax notices were being delivered at their doorsteps to felicitate the payments, adding that the residents were not being coerced to pay the property tax.

Talking to mediapersons on Monday, the Ambala DC clarified that the tax notices were being delivered at their doorsteps to felicitate the payments, adding that the residents were not being coerced to pay the property tax.

When pointed out that the notices were being sent to the residents who have already deposited the tax, the DC said they need not pay again rather append the receipts with the notices.

He said the property tax was leviable in HUDA sectors also and the HC had already clarified the matter on Panchkula MC's plea.

The DC disclosed that till date only `5 crore tax had been collected though the outstanding tax was over Rs 110 crore.
