Girl abducted, thrown out of car after rape bid

A 22-year-old post-graduate students of the Panjab University was allegedly kidnapped by three unidentified people, in an unsuccessful bid to rape her in a moving car on Saturday. The victim is a resident of Sector-47.

A 22-year-old post-graduate students of the Panjab University was allegedly kidnapped by three unidentified people, in an unsuccessful bid to rape her in a moving car on Saturday.

The victim is a resident of Sector-47. Her father is employed as the junior warrant officer in the Indian Air Force.

Giving details of the incident, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) (South) Surjit Malik said the victim was forcibly shoved into a car by three people around 7pm when she had gone to the Sector-47 market.

In the police complaint, the victim said the miscreants tried to rape her while the car was on the move. For over two hours the car kept roaming in different parts of city. Having failed after making several attempts, the accused threw her out of the car near Sector 26.

The passerbys informed the police and the victim was rushed to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16 and her medical report confirmed sexual assault.

Though the victim could not identify the accused, but informed the police that she had slapped one of the accused on March 14 in Sector 47 market after he had passed lewd remarks.

In separate incident, a case of obscene acts and songs, word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman has been registered against Shambhu, resident of Rajasthan, who intended to outrage modesty of a girl near inner market, Sector 9. The accused has been arrested.

In another incident, a girl alleged that two unknown persons on Pulsar motor cycle bearing registration number CH-03Y-8417 passed lewd remarks and also threatened her near Gurudwara roundabout, Sector 34.

A case of obscene acts and songs, word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman and act done by several persons under sections 294, 509, 34 of the IPC has been registered at Sector 34 police station.
