In a major pro-poor initiative Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday announced that the state government would provide a grant of Rs 11,000 for marriage of the girls hailing from families having land holding less than two-and-a-half acres or annual income less than Rs one lakh.
Hooda was addressing a well attended public meeting at village Dahina in Kosli assembly segment on Tuesday. On the demand of Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda and local MLA Rao Yadavender Singh the chief minister announced a slew of incentives for the Kosli assembly segments including engineering college in the memory of former chief minister Rao Birender Singh, roads, upgradation of schools, bye pass for Kosli town, water supply and sewerage facility for Bhakhdi and Kosli towns, hockey nursery and a number of canal based irrigation projects in the constituency.
He also announced that the government would study the feasibility for construction of an express highway between Gurgaon and Mahendergarh through the Kosli area.
Hooda said he would ensure that southern Haryana got every drop of its rightful share of water. He said the area had been getting water from Yamuna river so far but the region had a share in the blue water of Bhakra.
He said there was scarcity of water and the government had been working to make up this shortage. Without naming the opposition parties Hooda said the Haryana government had spent Rs 392 crore to provide rightful share of water to southern Haryana but certain forces had taken it to the Supreme Court.
