The Punjab and Haryana high court has directed Chandigarh Forensic Science Laboratory(CFSL) to file its report within two weeks after examining the compact discs in which Honey Singh’s alleged vulgar songs were recorded.
The directions came from the court headed by justice Amol Rattan Singh during the resumed hearing of a petition filed by rapper Honey Singh seeking quashing of FIR registered against him at Nawanshahr city police station.
The FIR was registered on the complaint of Nawanshahr-based non-governmental organisation, Human Empowerment League of Punjab (HELP), at Nawanshahr city police station under Section 294 (obscene acts and songs to the annoyance of others in public place) of the Indian Penal Code on May 15.
Dhanpreet Kaur, senior superintendent of police, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, informed the court on Tuesday that FIR against Honey Singh was registered after conducting required initial investigation. The officer also submitted through her affidavit that during course of investigation, Honey Singh whose real name is Hirdesh Singh had also moved an application, claiming innocence, before her that was further marked to superintendent of police (detective) for inquiry.
The court was informed that inquiry in the case was in progress. It was submitted that an audio-video compact disc of song “Main Hun Balatkari” (I am a rapist) after downloading from internet, and another audio-video compact disc of songs, “Brown Rang (Brown Colour) and “Jad Pachiyan Pindaan Ne” (When 25 villages) submitted by the complainant had been taken into possession and further sent to CFSL, Chandigarh, on August 13 for forensic examination. CFSL’s report is awaited, informed the officer.

{{/usCountry}}During hearing of the case, when Honey Singh’s counsel tried to argue that earlier a division bench of the high court had made observations on September 4 virtually accepting singer’s plea for quashing FIR, complainat’s counsel objected to it submitting that looking into the peculiar facts of the case, the FIR should not be quashed without considering CFSL’s report.
The case would now come up for hearing on September 26.
