J&K govt for advance stocking of food grains ahead of winters

Ahead of the coming winters, Jammu and Kashmir has sought advance stocking of essential items like food grains, sugar, kerosene oil and LPG cylinders in the higher reaches of the state.

Ahead of the coming winters, Jammu and Kashmir has sought advance stocking of essential items like food grains, sugar, kerosene oil and LPG cylinders in the higher reaches of the state.

The advance stocking of food grains, sugar, kerosene and LPG should be undertaken at higher reaches of Jammu province for convenience of the people, Qamar Ali Akhoon minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) and Transport said here on Wednesday.

Akhnoor, who chaired a meeting of officers of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) to review the stock and supply position of essential commodities in various districts of Jammu Province, asked the concerned officers to ensure timely distribution of essential commodities to the people.

The minister also reviewed the status of allocation of food grains to welfare institutions under BPL category and instructed the department to ensure that food grains should be distributed among destitute people living in welfare homes.

It was informed that 7,600 quintals of flour, 55,010 quintals of wheat and 4,425 quintals of sugar have been made available by the department in Jammu province.
