The Bharatiya Janata Party workers continued to be in denial mood even after two days, when the party announced bollywood actress Kirron Kher as the candidate for parliamentary elections, setting aside all three contenders from local BJP.

The party preferred Kher over Chandigarh BJP unit chief Sanjay Tandon, senior leader Satyapal Jain and veteran Harmohan Dhawan.

As the quintessential Bollywood mummy arrived at the city airport around 12 noon, protests were held by a section of BJP workers at Tribune roundabout, sector 47 and colony number 4.

Kher arrived in the city to a packed airport with BJP workers present to welcome her along with local unit chief Sanjay Tandon.

While Kher’s cavalcade proceeded toward the party office, black flags were shown and protests were held raising slogans against Kher. Chaos ruled at Sector 33 Bharatiya Janata Party office’Kamlam’ as Kher descended along with her actor husband Anupam Kher and BJP affairs in-charge for Chandigarh Aarti Mehra.

Kher reached the office to a thin presence of party workers in support of her candidature. She reached to a divided house at the office with half of them raising slogans against her and the others in her favour.
