The accused was charged with rape, unnatural sex and wrongful confinement on Thursday night. He was also booked under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act, 2012, under which the onus of proving innocence lies with the accused and punishment could extend to life imprisonment.

On Saturday, the police had told the court that it wanted to recover a porn compact disk from Sharma, which he allegedly used to show to the children.

Meanwhile, nothing incriminating had been recovered from the accused's mobile phone and laptop. Police were also questioning the friends of Major Sharma who used to visit him. It was learnt that the accused was not on good terms with his neighbours and used to frequently argue with them over one or the other issue.

The residents' body also accused the doctor on duty of rudeness in dealing with the girls and their mother and commenting as to why such a complaint had been lodged.
