Deputy commissioner (DC) SS Phulia shared the development activities undertaken in the Panchkula district here on Saturday.
Phulia said officers had started listening to public grievances from 11am to 12 noon and have been directed to depute senior officers to hear grievances in their absence. The administration will set up a toll free number, 0172-2587582, for the public to lodge their complaints. This number will be operational from January 26 and the complaints will be redressed in a time-bound manner depending on the nature of the complaint, Phulia said.
The further DC said Rs 6.50 crores under district development plan, Rs 1.40 crores under Member of Parliament Local Area Development fund (MPLAD), Rs 4.80 crores under The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and Rs 1.12 crores under Shivalik Development Plan have been spent on various projects and activities in the district.
A grant of approximately Rs 2.50 crores have been given for the construction of 466 houses under the Indira Awaas Yojna and Priyadarshini Awaas Yojana in rural areas for those who were homeless or having kuchha houses, Phulia added.
Sharing future projects, he said, “To provide better facilities to the citizens of urban areas of the district, over `35 crores would be spent on roads, community centres, parks, street lights, sanitation and public health services, etc. Estimates of all projects have been prepared, some of which are already in progress in the 20 wards of Municipal Corporation (MC), Panchkula.”
The DC added that food grains were being distributed to beneficiaries strictly as per the provision of National Food Security Act. Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Panchkula, has allotted sites to rehri and fahri holders in Sectors 7, 9, 11 and 17 of the city as the Act has been notified for the uplift of rehri or fahri holders, he said, adding that “A site is being finalised in Sector 19 and the process for identifying sites is under consideration at Pinjore and Kalka area. Survey of street vendors, rehris and fahris has been initiated by the MC. National Institute of Fashion Technology is being established on 10 acres land in Sector 23 with a cost of `100 crore.”

{{/usCountry}}He went on to add that a permanent Aadhar Card centre has been established in the Mini Secretariat office and additional deputy commissioner (ADC), Panchkula, is the district nodal officer for the same.
Talking about cattle menace, Phulia said approximately 716 stray cattle have been rounded up and put in Shri Mata Mansa Devi Gaushala and 874 at Kamdhenu Gaushala. Better and hygienic meat will be available for people as two slaughter houses, one at Panchkula in Industrial Area, Phase-1, and another at Pinjore for Pinjore and Kalka area would be modernised and made operational in near future, Phulia pointed, adding that the MC had given the contract for stray dogs to Pet Animal Center, Sector 3 and 1,374 of them have been sterilized till date.
