Promoting a healthy lifestyle with Raahgiri

Despite scorching heat, residents of the tricity swamped the New Lake, Sector 42, Chandigarh, on Sunday morning to attend the weekly street event Raahgiri.

Despite scorching heat, residents of the tricity swamped the New Lake, Sector 42, Chandigarh, on Sunday morning to attend the weekly street event Raahgiri. An initiative by Chandigarh administration and traffic police in collaboration with EMBARQ India, and media partner Hindustan Times, Raahgiri is organised every Sunday to promote healthy lifestyle and remind the citizens to reclaim the streets as it belongs to them.

Numerous activities including Zumba, yoga, aerobics, dancing session, badminton, hula-hoop, skating and games were organised at the spot.

In order to promote cycling, rent-free bicycles were provided on the spot to children and other people. The selfdesigned cycle by professional cyclist Rajiv Kumar, also known as Johny Creations, from Chandigarh turned out to be a special attraction for kids.

Conversing about the weekly event, Chandigarh-based resident SS Brar said, “I have attended Raahgiri in Gurgaon as well. The activities are really fun, especially for kids. I enjoy coming here on every Sunday.”
