The transformation capacity of 15 220-KV grid substations was also increased to cater to the enhanced load demand during the coming paddy season by adding 13 additional 100 MVA and 160 MVA power transformers at Kharar, Ludhiana, Goraya, Mohali, Kotli, Mansa, Sadiq, Sarna, Doraha, Sultanpur Lodhi, Lalru, Butari and Lalton Kalan.
The capacity of two power transformers has been augmented grid sub-stations at Sunam and Lehra Mohabbat.
A total capacity of 2,925 MW has been added in the state transmission system during this year. To improve the voltage profile of the grid system, shunt capacitors of 613- MVAR capacity have been added.
"In the past three years, the total transformation capacity of the PSTCL has been increased by almost 50%," said PSTCL deputy director KK Arora.
He said the 400 KV ring main system of the PSTCL would soon be completed.
"Under the transmission system associated with the Talwandi Sabo power project, four 400 KV grid sub-stations at Dhuri, Makhu, Muktsar and Nakodar are being constructed. Two 500 MVA inter-connecting transformers at 400 KV grid sub-station, Dhuri, have already been commissioned," he added.
