It rained trouble on Saturday as five persons lost their lives and nine others were injured in rain-related incidents in the state.

A woman and her two children were burried alive and five others were injured when their house on Friday night collapsed due to heavy rains in Barhmin village at Udhampur district, police said.

The deceased were identified Nisha Devi, 45, and her sons Sahil Singh, 11, and Sanjay Singh,7, all residents of Sala Morh in the Barhmin area of Ramnagar tehsil of the district.

Five members of the family suffered injuries in the incident. Among the injured were Rajinder Singh, Sharda Devi, Asha Devi and Shvali Devi. They have been admitted to the district hospital.

Two women washed away in flashfloods triggered by heavy rains in Kathua district, they said, adding that the bodies have been fished out, they said.

Four persons were injured when a house caved in due to intermittent rains at Soit village in Rajouri district, police said. Several inter-district roads have been blocked for vehicular traffic in view of landslides triggered by heavy downpours, which also caused flooding of Chenab, Ujh, Basantar and Tawi rivers.
