Following the buzz, party workers held a meeting at a rest house at Baggi area of Balh valley on Sunday and declared undisputed faith in the leadership of Ram. Notably, Ram, who has been part of the district politics for more than 35 years, had been elected the district BJP president for the sixth time recently.

He is also holding the post of chairman of Finance Commission of the state. It is pertinent to mention here that the BJP high command has declared six candidates out of the total 10 assembly constituencies in Mandi district.

However, the candidate for Nachan segment is yet to be declared, which gave enough room for the rumour mill to run on Saturday. While presiding over the meeting, Ram alleged that it was a conspiracy against him to show that he was not fit to contest the election, as he was getting old.

BJP Nachan block president Manoj Sharma and general secretary Yashwant said Ram had contested his first assembly election from Nachan segment in 1977 and had proved to be a loyal worker and party leader from day one.

They added he was one of those BJP leaders who had never been accused of corruption. Convener of party affairs Hen Raj Gautam said the rumour was awful, adding that Nachan block committee had not recommended any body else for the ticket.
