Traffic comes to halt as residents protest opening of liquor vend

Sector-42 residents staged a protest against the UT administration for opening up a new liquor vend at Attawa market, bringing the traffic on the road to a halt for around 3 hours, here on Sunday.

Sector-42 residents staged a protest against the UT administration for opening up a new liquor vend at Attawa market, bringing the traffic on the road to a halt for around 3 hours, here on Sunday.

Commuters faced inconvenience as residents blocked the road near Attawa roundabout and raised anti-administration slogans. Additional police force was called to clear the jam. Protestors claimed that there were already two liquor vends in the area due to which residents, especially women, felt insecure. Many women also sat on protest.
