Unidentified woman killed by speeding car

A 52-year-old unidentified woman was killed after a rashly driven car hit her while she was trying to cross the road dividing Sector 22 and 35. The police have arrested Ravi Kumar Unmat, a 64-year-old retired general manager of PNB, who is a resident of Sector 38.

The police have arrested Ravi Kumar Unmat, a 64-year-old retired general manager of PNB, who is a resident of Sector 38.

Eye witnesses claimed that the victim was on her way to the Sector-35 side of the road, when the car hit her and left her injured.

The victim was rushed to the Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, where she was declared dead on arrival. There was no document with the victim to help establish her identity, said Ram Dayal, Sector 36 police station SHO.

Unmat’s car, a Honda City bearing the number CH01 AE 6519 has been impounded. Unmat has been booked under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
