Youth booked for uploading obscene pictures of woman

The cyber crime investigation cell (CCIC) of Chandigarh Police on Saturday booked a 24-year-old native of Patiala for allegedly uploading morphed obscene pictures of a woman on her Facebook wall.

The cyber crime investigation cell (CCIC) of Chandigarh Police on Saturday booked a 24-year-old native of Patiala for allegedly uploading morphed obscene pictures of a woman on her Facebook wall.

The police said the accused also attempted to blackmail the victim through a video chat. The accused was identified as Rahul Kumar Kushwaha is a former student of a private institute in Sector 34 here while the victim is the human resource (HR) manager of the institute.

The investigation cell said the accused was currently residing in Delhi. Preliminary investigations had revealed that the accused came in contact with the victim while studying at the institute.

Police said he had even tried to befriend the victim but she refused his proposal. Later, Kushwaha became 'friends' with the victim on Facebook by creating a fake profile. The CCIC said the accused's Internet Protocol (IP) address was procured, which established Kushwaha's involvement in the case.

Following the complaint of the victim, the police booked Kushwaha under sections 66A and 67 (punishment for sending offensive messages through communication service) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, at the Sector-34 police station, Chandigarh, said Kirpal Singh, station house officer.
