Divers and the district administration recovered the bodies of three men who drowned while bathing in the Yamuna near Lalpura Ghat in Karnal on Ganga Dussehra on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Ramesh Kumar, Monty alias Mangatram and Sanju, all residents of the Gharounda sub-division in the district.

Officials said the incident occurred when a group of seven men arrived at the ghat to take a holy dip.
An eye-witness reported that when Ramesh began drowning in deeper waters, Monty and Sanju stepped in to rescue him, but both were also swept away by the strong currents.
SP Narender Bijarniya said that three bodies were recovered and sent for the post-mortem examination.
