3-day ‘Chandigarh Carnival’ to begin from December 2

A three-day ‘Chandigarh Carnival’ being organised by Chandigarh administration is all set to go on floors from December 2 to December 4, with fun rides, cool games & more exciting activities across the UT. The carnival was discontinued in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 pandemic.

With this year’s theme “Apna Shehar Apna Jashan ‘’, the tourism department is setting up amusement parks, and is organizing day-long cultural programmes including three ‘Mega Musical Nites’.

Along with a kite display event on December 3 and kite competition on December 4, a cultural programme at New Lake, Sector 42 is also being organized, wherein artists from different states including Gujarat, Assam, Sikkim, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and others will perform. Morning Raga on December 3 and December 4 will be held at Botanical Garden and Sukhna Lake, respectively.

Tourism secretary Hargunjit Kaur said, “All the events, including the ‘Mega Musical Nites’ will be free of cost for the public. Every year, most of the events of the carnival were organized in Northern sectors but this time, events were organized across the city. Various tourism events are scheduled in December and early 2023, to attract tourists in the City Beautiful ‘’.

No accidental-prone rides at amusement parks

After a joyride crashing incident in Mohali in September this year, the UT Administration decided not to include any accidental-prone rides in the amusement parks this time.

Accidental Prone rides, including giant wheel, columbus boat, break dance, ranger, tower jhulla and others will not be installed for the safety of public/visitors.

December 2

Events at Open Ground Opposite Museum & Art Gallery, Sector 10, Chandigarh: Inauguration of Chandigarh Carnival, carnival parade, brass and pipe band by police department, 75 dholi performance from Open Ground to New Lake, day long cultural activities, cultural performance by NZCC artists of various states, folk performance by Harjit Harman artist.

December 3

At Botanical Garden: Morning Raga

At Open Ground Opposite Museum & Art Gallery, Sector 10, Chandigarh: day long activities, punjabi musical evening ‘LIVE’ by Jassi Gill and Babbal Rai.

December 4

At Sukhna Lake: Morning Raga

At Open Ground Opposite Museum & Art Gallery, Sector 10, Chandigarh: day long activities, cultural performance by NZCC artists of various states, bollywood musical night by Singer Shaan.

Events at New Lake, sector 42: cultural performance by NZCC artists of various states in evening.
