Body found in drain in Mohali: 2.5 years on, 4 men booked for murder

Police said that as per the postmortem of the deceased, he had not died due to drowning but due to severe injuries in his abdomen

Almost two and half years after the dead body of a 23-year-old man was found in a drain in Sohana, four men have been booked for his murder.

The accused have been identified as Hariom, Ramnivas, Ramkumar and Satveer.

The FIR was lodged based on the statement of the sister of the deceased, Satish Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh.

Station house officer (SHO) of Sohana police station inspector Gurcharan Singh, said, “On July 7, 2020, the victim’s sister had lodged a missing complaint and on July 13, 2020, his dead body was recovered from the drain. On July 6, Kumar had left his home with Hariom. The victim’s sister suspected that the four men murdered him.”

“As per the postmortem of the deceased, he had not died due to drowning but due to severe injuries in his abdomen.

The report made it clear that it was not a suicide case, but a murder. All the accused were friends of the deceased and living at rented places in Sohana, like the victim,” the SHO said, adding that a hunt is on to arrest the accused.
