Chandigarh: Government College of Yoga Education students showcase athletic prowess in annual sports meet
Richa Rathee, additional director higher education, Chandigarh administration, was the chief guest for the valedictory ceremony
Government College of Yoga Education and Health, Sector 23-A, organised its 10th annual athletics meet. The opening ceremony was attended by UT education secretary Prerna Puri as the chief guest.

College principal Sapna Nanda, sports in-charges Anupma Kaushal and Sumant Batish and senior faculty members welcomed the chief guest.
The programme was inaugurated with the unfurling of the college flag by Puri. A march past and oath taking ceremony by the athletes followed. While addressing the guests and students, she shared her insights on the significance of sports in life and motivated the athletes to participate.
In the morning session, the students participated in various events, like the 50m race, three-legged race, long jump, shot put and discus throw. In afternoon, in addition to these events, the college organised various fun games and activities, such as wheel and barrow race, thread and needle race, lemon and spoon race, tug of war, musical chair, etc. Staff and students promoted teamwork and sportsmanship.

She gave away prizes to the winners and congratulated them on their performance. Nitin Thakur was declared the best athlete (boys) and Maphi was declared the best athlete (girls).
Sumant Batish read the annual sports report and highlighted the students’ achievements at various levels. Vote of thanks was delivered by Rajiv Uppal, a senior faculty member of the college. The event was concluded with the National Anthem.
