Chandigarh’s Sandeep shines in AVT senior golf tour

The final year-end tournament was played at The Jaypee Greens Golf Club, Greater Noida, on Tuesday and Wednesday; before the start of the event, it was a close race for the Order of Merit title, with Sandeep leading by a single point

Sandeep Sandhu of Chandigarh Golf Club pipped David D’Souza of Bangalore in the recently concluded final event of the year 2024-25 on the AVT Champions Senior Golf Tour to win Order of Merit for the year.

The final year-end tournament was played at The Jaypee Greens Golf Club, Greater Noida, on Tuesday and Wednesday. Before the start of the event, it was a close race for the Order of Merit title, with Sandeep leading by a single point.

On day one, Sandeep shot a 75 and David slipped with an average score of 79. Despite a cushion of four shots the title race was still open, as David, in the past, had been coming in with strong second rounds. As expected, David came up with a strong round of 73, but Sandeep didn’t let up and shot a round of 72 to take the title by 5 shots.

The number one and two in the Order of Merit have been representing the country at the Asia Pacific Senior Golf Championship and at the South Africa Senior Amateur Golf Championship. Next year, the Order of Merit winner will represent the country at the British Senior Amateurs Golf Championship in England.
