To fight the spiraling problem of drugs, director general of police Ashok Tewari called for “strong collaboration” between the police and the medical fraternity.
He was interacting with the undergraduate, postgraduate and nursing students of Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (RPGMC), Tanda, on Saturday as part of the ongoing state-wide outreach under the anti-chitta campaign.
Addressing the students, Tewari highlighted that defeating Chitta requires strong collaboration between the police and the medical fraternity. He emphasised that drug abuse is both a law-enforcement and a public-health challenge, where doctors play an indispensable role in early detection, counselling and rehabilitation. He encouraged the students to become active partners in identifying and supporting individuals affected by substance abuse.
The DGP also urged the students to participate enthusiastically in the Anti-Chitta Walkathon on December 1, 2025 from Dari Ground, Dharamshala, calling it the united voice of Himachal’s youth against drugs.
Tewari, had visited the Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (RPGMC), Tanda, to deliver the chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s call to youth and medical professionals to join his Jan Andolan for a Chitta-Mukt Himachal.
