Unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire outside the residence of an entrepreneur in Sector 89, Mohali, on Tuesday night. This comes amid a series of gunfire-related incidents across the city in recent months.
As per people in the neighbourhood at least 11 rounds were fired. Later, the entrepreneur’s family also received a video clip of the firing. Prior to this, he had received a ₹5 crore extortion call, to which he did not respond.
When contacted superintendent of police (SP) Dilpreet said a case has been registered and probe is on. He added that the video clip is also being examined.
Last November, two motorcycle-borne men had fired more than 30 rounds outside a residence in Phase 7, causing damage to cars and prompting police inquiries into gang links. In September, unidentified assailants opened fire at a gym owner in the Phase 2 market, injuring him as he sat in his car.
