The Himachal Pradesh State Handicraft and Handloom Corporation Limited will be renamed as “Himcraft Corporation”, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced on Monday. He was presiding over the 9th National Handloom Day function organised at Gaiety Theatre in Shimla.

He said the government is mulling to introduce state-level awards in three categories to honour individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the field of handloom and handicrafts.
The CM expressed his concern over the estimated loss ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 crore due to recent torrential rains in the state that triggered flash floods and landslides.
In order to provide relief to the affected, the government has increased the compensation amount multifold by amending the relief manual.
“I have apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman about the widespread destruction caused due to flash floods in the state and have requested them to provide the first installment of interim relief at the earliest to speed up the relief and restoration process,” said Sukhu.
He said a request has also been made to get released a sum of ₹315 crore pending with NDRF for the last few years, he added.
