The Himachal Pradesh assembly on Thursday mourned the passing away of Hindustan Times principal correspondent Gaurav Bisht after a cardiac arrest in Shimla on Wednesday night.
Bisht, 49, is survived by his wife and son.
He was rushed to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC), where he was declared brought dead.
The mortal remains were taken to his native place at Rohru for the last rites after the post-mortem on Thursday morning. The cremation will take place at Rohru at 11am on Friday.
In the obituary reference, the House also condoled the deaths of Anand Bodh, a correspondent with The Times of India and Amar Ujala’s senior correspondent Vipin Kala.
Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also expressed grief . “I am deeply saddened by the news of the sudden demise of senior Hindustan Times journalist Gaurav Bisht. His contribution to Himachal Pradesh and the world of journalism will always be remembered with gratitude. I pray that God may grant peace to the departed soul and provide courage and patience to the bereaved family in this difficult time,” Sukhu posted on X.
Deputy chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri shared a post on social media, “I am saddened to hear the news of the demise of Gaurav Bisht, senior journalist of Hindustan Times. His untimely demise is an irreparable loss to the world of journalism.”

Former director of the information and public relations department BD Sharma described Bisht as a thorough professional and sincere journalist.
