Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Monday visited Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana to take stock of the law and order situation and hold review meetings, in view of Independence Day ahead. He reviewed security arrangements across sensitive areas, key public congregation points, major urban locations and vital installations, besides issuing operational directives on inter-district coordination, high-visibility nakas and round-the-clock surveillance.
In Amritsar, Yadav, during a meeting with officials, said seamless coordination across the security grid and proactive assessment of emerging challenges remain the top priority for Punjab Police. In Jalandhar, he evaluated the preparedness of the police commissionerate and the Jalandhar range, which also covers the districts of Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur and SBS Nagar. He briefed officers on the current threat perception and emphasised the necessity of heightened vigilance, flexible force deployment and swift response mechanisms.
In Ludhiana too, he evaluated the Independence Day policing plan. He directed the officers to focus on visible and effective deployment, as well as securing celebration venues and public gathering points.
