Six booked for robbing, thrashing Ludhiana singer
The Ludhiana -based singer, was returning home from a studio in the Dhandari area on April 27 around 2 am at the time of the incident
Days after a local singer was robbed of his valuables including cash and gold after being threatened with a weapon and getting thrashed by armed miscreants, police have registered a case against six people.
The victim, who is a professional singer, has been identified as Manik Jain. He was reportedly returning home from a studio in the Dhandari area on April 27 around 2 am at the time of the incident. Jain, who is a resident of Nanda Colony, was also accompanied by his brother.
In his complaint, Jain told police that when he was intercepted by a group of armed bike-borne robbers upon reaching Shiv Chowk. He said one of the robbers threatened him with a knife before making away with his iPhone, gold jewellery including his rings and bangle. He said the robbers also snatched the ₹15,000 that he was carrying.
Sharing details about the incident, sub inspector (SI) Sahib Kumar said police are scanning through the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage recovered from the area to identify the accused.
A case under section 379B (snatching after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of snatching), 34 (common conspiracy) has been registered after verifying the details in the complaint.
One held for robbing labourers
Police on Wednesday arrested a snatcher for allegedly snatching cash from factory workers after brandishing weapons with them. The arrested accused has been identified as Ravi Kumar of Jeewan Nagar. Two other accused, who have been booked for snatching have been identified as Ashu and Ankit, are still at large.
The victim, Sanjeet of Jeewan Nagar in his complaint to the police said he was heading back home on May 7 when he was overpowered by five persons who snatched away ₹8,000, which he had received as part of his salary.
Sub-inspector (SI) Gurmeet Singh said a snatching case had earlier been registered against the accused.
