The Model Town police on Wednesday booked an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, four of his family members and several unidentified persons on charges of opening fire during a parking dispute in Ambedkar Nagar last month.

The accused have been identified as AAP leader RK Boni, his brother Naini, father Ravi Kumar, mother Jyoti and an associate, Bablu. The FIR also mentions four to five unidentified persons.
Police have invoked Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 190 (offence committed by members of an unlawful assembly), 191(3) (rioting while armed with a deadly weapon) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
The FIR was registered nearly 18 days after the alleged incident, which took place on June 19, and after a fresh video purportedly linked to the episode surfaced. Police said the case was registered following an inquiry.
According to the complaint lodged by Mamta, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, the dispute erupted after her husband parked a 12-wheeler truck on a road near Ramlila Park outside their residence. She alleged that the argument escalated into a physical assault, during which the accused allegedly brandished a pistol and opened fire. The family, however, managed to escape without sustaining any gunshot injuries.
Investigating officer ASI Avtar Singh said the allegations are being verified and further action will be taken based on the evidence gathered during the investigation. No arrests have been made so far, he added.
