Ludhiana: Burglar decamps with cash from donation box at temple

According to police, CCTV footage purportedly shows the suspect entering the temple premises and waiting for devotees to leave before targeting the donation box. He broke open the box and fled with cash

An unidentified burglar broke open a temple donation box and decamped with cash on Friday. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed on the temple premises, located in Prem Nagar.

According to temple authorities, the theft took place in the afternoon when the temple priest had briefly gone to his nearby residence for lunch. On returning, he found the donation box broken open and the cash missing.

“The exact amount stolen is yet to be ascertained as temple authorities are still assessing the contents of the donation box. An FIR has been lodged and a probe is underway,” said an officer.
