Four years after being declared a proclaimed offender, a 26-year-old man was held by the local Government Railway Police (GRP) on March 8 late evening from Mall road, near bus stand, Patiala.

The accused, Karan Singh of Delhi, in 2016 was booked by Ludhiana GRP under Sections 379-B (snatching), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at GRP Thana here.
According to the officials, the accused after skipping his court appearances was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by a local court in 2018.
“He was arrested following a tip off from our sources. GRP held the accused in coordination with the senior officials,” a GRP officer said.
Ludhiana GRP has initiated a special drive to nab the proclaimed offenders as over 300 POs are still absconding here.
