Ludhiana shuttler bags bronze in Denmark

This was the third time Dhruv represented India at the tournament. He was also part of the Indian squad that won gold in 2022, the country’s first-ever medal at the event

City shuttler Dhruv Kapila won a bronze medal at the Thomas Cup in Denmark on Saturday. The 26-year-old has secured the medal in the men’s doubles event after defeating the Chinese Taipei pair 3-0 to finish third. Earlier, he had lost the semifinal 3-0 to a French opponent.

This was the third time Dhruv represented India at the tournament. He was also part of the Indian squad that won gold in 2022, the country’s first-ever medal at the event. In 2024, the Indian team returned without a medal.

“I am delighted that the second medal India has won in the tournament has also come in my son’s name,” said his father, Gagan Kapila.

He said Dhruv was on his way back to India and has a busy schedule lined up over the next few months.
