The anti-narcotics cell of the Ludhiana police arrested a 35-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman and recovered 140-gram heroin, ₹31,000 drug money along with a computerised weighing scale and some documents from their possession on Thursday.

The accused man has been identified as Sandeep, who is a resident of Ferozepur, while the woman has been identified as Rajwinder Kaur of Kot Mangal mohalla of Ludhiana.
Sub-inspector Jagtar Singh, who was leading the police team, said the duo caught their suspicion while police were patrolling in the Kot Mangal mohalla. He said during the investigation, Sandeep said as he had no work, he started selling heroin to make a living.
A case under Sections 21-B, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been lodged against them at the Division No. 6 police station, said the officer. He said the accused were produced in court today and have been taken on one-day police remand for further investigation.
