The Tibba police have registered a case against a woman’s parents, brother and a family associate after she alleged that they forced her into the flesh trade following a dispute with her husband.

The case was registered on the basis of a Zero FIR lodged by the woman with the Mumbai police. The Tibba police have booked the accused under Sections 4 (living on the earnings of prostitution) and 5 (procuring, inducing or taking a person for prostitution) of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and Sections 34 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
Inspector Gaganpreet Singh, SHO of Tibba police station, said the woman had approached the Mumbai police, following which the Zero FIR was transferred to Ludhiana. Police are contacting the complainant to obtain further details and continue the investigation.
According to her complaint, the woman married a Mumbai-based man in 2013. In 2015, she returned to her parental home following a marital dispute. She alleged that during this period, her parents, brother and their associate forced her into prostitution.
The woman later returned to her husband but came back to her parental home again after another dispute arose. She alleged that her family once again pushed her into the same activity, which continued for nearly two years.
