Now, Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi too has automated door system
Senior divisional commercial manager Hari Mohan said the automated door of the New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi will open on the platform side during stoppages and close as soon as the train leaves the platform. The doors won’t open when the train is running so in case of emergencies; the alarm chain has to be pulled after which the train will stop and the doors will open.
Two months after the Northern Railways started an automatic door system on the coaches of New Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi Express, the feature was introduced on New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi as well on Thursday.

Senior divisional commercial manager Hari Mohan said the door will open on the platform side during stoppages and close as soon as the train leaves the platform.
“As it is a new system, there are chances that passengers may not be able to board or get off the train before departure. In such cases, passengers inside the train may pull the alarm chain to bring the train to halt.”
The doors won’t open when the train is running so in case of emergencies; the alarm chain has to be pulled after which the train will stop and the doors will open.
Repeated announcements will also be made through the intercom, cautioning passengers to stay away from the door when it is opening or closing.
