Panchkula: Unidentified man’s body found in seasonal drain

The body was taken into custody and shifted to the mortuary of the civil hospital in Sector 6 for post-mortem examination and the identity of the deceased is yet to be established

A body of an unidentified man was found in a seasonal drain between Sectors 17 and 18, Panchkula on Sunday morning.

Police reached the spot after receiving information from passersby and inspected the scene. According to police, the body was spotted in the drain, following which officials from the Sector 16 police post rushed to the location.

During the preliminary investigation, police suspected the body was around two to three days old. The deceased is believed to be around 40-years-old. Considering the nature of the case, a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team was also called to the spot to collect evidence.

The body was taken into custody and shifted to the mortuary of the civil hospital in Sector 6 for post-mortem examination. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established.

Police are verifying missing persons’ reports registered at nearby police stations and investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. The exact cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem report is received.
