Haryana speaker Gian Chand Gupta demands ban on hookah bars, writes to CM Khattar
Haryana Assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta has written to the chief minister calling for a ban on serving hookah, a type of water pipe, in hotels, restaurants, bars and nightclubs across the state. Gupta, who is a BJP MLA from Panchkula, cited drug addiction among youths and health risks as reasons for the ban. He also welcomed the central government's decision to ban hookah bars in Chandigarh and called for a strict law to be made in Haryana. Last month, Haryana's Food and Drug Administration raided hookah bars in Panchkula and seized banned items.
