New Delhi: The probe into the murder of 31-year-old techie has revealed that he and his wife frequently fought over their children and the deceased had been threatened by his wife’s family several times in the last year, police said on Sunday.
Delhi Police have arrested the wife, her two brothers-in-law and her sister-in-law.
The deceased, Vinay Gupta, had married three years ago. The couple have four-month old twins. On Friday morning, the couple allegedly had an argument over their children, following which the woman called her family members. Police said the accused assaulted Gupta inside his home in the presence of his parents. He later succumbed to his injuries.
On Sunday, police said Gupta’s mother, Renu Gupta, alleged in her statement that seven members of the woman’s family attacked her son.
“We have arrested four people. The woman’s other relatives are being questioned. We have detained two others for questioning. One person is still on the run and teams have been sent to arrest him,” said an officer.
Police said questioning Gupta’s mother and sister revealed that the couple fought over the newborn twins. “The murder also appears to have followed an argument over Gupta asking his wife to apply a cream to their son’s body to treat blisters. Earlier, they fought over money spent on the babies and other issues. In the past year, the couple had frequent arguments, following which the woman left the house several times. We are also verifying allegations that her family had previously threatened to attack Gupta,” said police.

{{/usCountry}}Renu said, “Her family was ready to kill us as well. They attacked my husband, who is a heart patient. Her uncle struck my son on his chest multiple times.He is still on the run. Her parents also attacked Vinay. How can someone kill a man over a medicine ? This was not the reason. She was not happy here and always wanted to leave after the babies were born.”
