Three members of an interstate gang were arrested from Green Field Colony in Faridabad on Monday for allegedly looting gold and cash worth about ₹79 lakh by impersonating officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Palwal on April 2, police said on Tuesday.

The accused included two from Delhi and one from Jhajjar, police said, adding they were arrested based on information provided by a fourth suspect held on April 10. He was produced before a Palwal court and remanded to five-day police custody.
Sanjay Kadian, Palwal police public relations officer, said one of the accused arranged forged identity cards and fake vehicle registration plates, while another accused conducted recce near Huda Chowk on NH-19. “They had intercepted the car carrying the cash and gold,” he said, adding Narender was present during the loot.
Police said around a dozen suspects in three cars intercepted a vehicle carrying ₹31 lakh cash and about 350g gold worth ₹48 lakh belonging to employees of a bullion trader. The gang, posing as DRI officials, took the valuables and phones and later released one victim.
Police said 10 more suspects are yet to be arrested, and recovery efforts are underway.
