The department deployed a pregnant woman as a decoy to verify the information, according to the complaint submitted to the police. The woman approached the clinic on Friday and told the 49-year-old accused that she wanted to terminate her pregnancy.

The accused who owned the clinic, allegedly demanded ₹1,000 from her and handed over the kit containing mifepristone and misoprostol tablets. He also allegedly explained how to use the tablets to terminate the pregnancy. Following this, officials entered the clinic. The money was recovered, and their serial numbers matched those recorded by the team before the operation, the complaint said. Officials subsequently sealed the money and the MTP kit.

Dr Devender Singh Solanki, nodal officer, pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic techniques (PCPNDT), Gurugram, submitted the complaint to City Sohna police seeking registration of an FIR against the man for allegedly engaging in illegal termination of pregnancy and practising medicine without the required qualifications. The complaint also states that the clinic was not registered under the MTP Act.

“When questioned about his medical qualifications, the man allegedly said that he had studied only till Class 10 and had no qualification in medical science,” said Dr Solanki.

A case was registered at Sohna police station under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, National Medical Commission Act and Sections 125 and 138 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
