Police said based on her new statement, they have replaced rape charges in the first information report with sexual harassment and criminal intimidation charges and arrested SHO Bijender Rathee, said police. Rathee has been suspended pending a department inquiry, police said.

According to police, on Wednesday, the woman registered a case against Rathee alleging that he raped her several times. She alleged that he raped her in her house and even at the police station when she came to lodge a case related to a fraud about a month and half ago.

The woman alleged that Rathee, who took the complaint, started calling her on phone afterwards and also called her to the station several times on the pretext of recording her statement. She alleged that the SHO also visited her house several times on the pretext of investigation.

“The woman refused to undergo a medical examination and we have registered a case under Section 354A (sexual harassment) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code at the women police station in Nuh,” said Singla.
