Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Friday expressed confidence that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party will form government in Uttar Pradesh for the third time in a row and with a bigger majority in 2027.

Maurya, who was in Kanpur to attend a programme under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, described SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s PDA as fake and said the acronym stood for “Parivar Development Agency”.
He also took a swipe at the SP over reports of cabinet minister Rakesh Sachan’s possible move to the party. Asked about the possibility of Sachan joining the SP, Maurya said in a lighter vein, “Akhilesh had met us. He himself was going to join the BJP.”
Maurya alleged that the SP’s PDA was a platform that provided protection to goons, criminals and rioters. He said the SP would not return to power not just in 2027 but even by 2047. “After the 2027 election results, the Samajwadi party will be seen departing towards Saifai,” he said.
