As an announcement regarding the poll dates is expected soon, LMC will remove existing political hoardings, and has directed all zonal officers to keep strict vigil in their respective zones.
An official, on the condition of anonymity, said, “Hoardings, posters, banners and billboards are the most common and traditional ways of campaigning. The LMC has to be impartial in conduct.”
“Before erecting any sort of political hoarding, a candidate will have to take permission and deposit the amount for that.”
Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia said, “Municipal authorities must be paid before the installation of hoardings, banners and billboards. The money will be added in the election expenditure of the candidate… Any hoarding put up without permission will be removed.”
