Door-to-door vaccination drive kicks off in Lucknow
On Day 1, 4,500 doses administered in the state capital under the campaign; Uttar Pradesh close to 33-crore vaccination mark
LUCKNOW Aiming to expedite Covid-19 vaccination coverage to include all eligible beneficiaries through door-to-door campaigns, the health department began the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ drive in Lucknow on Monday.

On Day 1, 4,500 doses were administered under the campaign, said officials.
“We have approximately 6 lakh beneficiaries who have their second dose of Covid vaccine due. The aim is to reach out to them and provide the dose by June 24,” said Dr MK Singh, in-charge vaccination in the state capital.
According to data, all eligible people in Lucknow over 18 years of age have got their first dose while about 95% have got their second dose as well.
Under the campaign, all above 12 years are being provided Covid vaccine dose and those above 60 years of age can get their precaution dose too. “Precaution dose for people between 18 and 60 years is provided at private vaccination centres,” he said.
Teams comprising two ANMs are visiting people in their respective work areas and preparing a list of those who have their vaccine dose due. These people are collected in small groups and then vaccinated.
“Getting the vaccine dose is a proven protection against Covid infection. As new cases are still being reported in the state, hence taking the vaccine jab is significant to maintain resistance against the virus,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary-general, Association of International Doctors.
The campaign is particularly focusing on rural pockets. The vaccines are being carried in customised carriers to ensure that the cold chain does not break, said a senior health official.
UP close to 33-cr vax mark
Uttar Pradesh is inching close to the 33-crore mark in Covid vaccination. According to the data from CoWin portal, the state has administered 329681820 doses of vaccine till now, which is the highest among all states in the country. Till now 17,45,84,364 first doses and 15,18,83,484 second doses have been administered in UP. In the next 48 hours, the state is likely to cross the 33-crore mark.
