The UPEA took the decision after failing to get a response from the state government over the demand for a fresh inquiry into the irregularities in the transfer of engineers in UP Public Works Department (PWD).

UPEA general secretary, Ashish Yadav said, they had also demanded that the suspension of head of the PWD, Manoj Kumar Gupta, engineer-in-chief, Rakesh Kumar Saxena and senior staff officer, PWD Shailendra Kumar Yadav, be revoked.

The state government has not fulfilled the demands of the UPEA, he said.

On Tuesday, the engineers in various state government departments/corporations/authorities/public undertakings would tie a black tape to symbolically oppose the suspension of the engineers. On August 2 the engineers would organise demonstrations at the district headquarters across the state, he said.

It has also come to notice of the UPEA that the transfer list sent by the concerned department to the state government was not issued.

“The transfer list was modified at the higher level before being issued by the state government. The head of the PWD and other senior officers have been made scapegoat for irregularities committed at the higher level, Yadav said.

The UPEA has sent a letter to the chief minister demanding revocation of the suspension order of the PWD officers, they be acquitted of all charges and to conduct a fair investigation over the irregularities in the transfer of the engineers.

The association has also urged CM to give time for the meeting with a delegation of the UPEA, Yadav said. Attempts to contact the principal secretary, PWD, for his reaction over the issue didn’t elicit a response.
