: Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana met the Speaker of the Parliament of Iceland and the Chairman of its Foreign Affairs Committee in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council Chairman Kunwar Manvendra Singh was also present.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed the parliamentary systems, democratic traditions and legislative procedures of India and Iceland, according to a press statement issued by the Speaker’s office on Tuesday.
Mahana emphasised the need to further strengthen ties between the two countries through shared democratic values and parliamentary institutions.
He also highlighted the importance of promoting dialogue and exchanges among the youth of the two countries. The younger generation is a vital force in democracy, he said, adding that parliamentary and cultural exchanges among youth from different countries could provide a new direction to democratic understanding and mutual cooperation.
