NCC cadets showcase food, culture of 11 states at Lucknow University event
The cadets prepared dal bati churma, litti chokha, Hyderabadi biryani, roshogolla, modak, rasam chawal, chole bhature and other mouth-watering dishes, which were a great hit among the audience.
Cadets from the 64th UP battalion, NCC, organised a food festival at the Lucknow University (LU), where they sold popular dishes from 11 states and performed traditional dances of those regions too.
The cadets prepared dal bati churma, litti chokha, Hyderabadi biryani, roshogolla, modak, rasam chawal, chole bhature and other mouth-watering dishes, which were a great hit among the audience.
They also performed a skit on the life of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, drawing much applause soon after the festival began at 12:30 pm.
LU vice chancellor Alok Kumar Rai was the chief guest at the festival. Commanding officer of the 64th UP Battalion, Colonel Gaurav Karki was present throughout the festival to encourage the students.
“The whole thing was an initiative of the cadets. They came to me with the plan one week ago, and put the whole event together out of their pockets. Even though the participating students are largely from UP and Uttarakhand, they took the initiative to showcase the cultures of 11 different states. This shows their level of dedication, cooperation and initiative - these are all very cherished qualities in cadets,” said Karki.
States that were represented at the festival included Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Hyderabad, Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh among others.
Two prizes were given away to the states that performed well in all aspects - food, dance and costume. The first prize was bagged by the Maharashtra team and the second prize was taken away by the Kerala team. Other members of the 64th battalion were in attendance at the event and enjoyed the event along with family and friends.
