Tension grips Budaun village after recovery of cow carcasses

They said there was dense fog in the area and taking advantage of it, the bovine smugglers slaughtered three cows behind the PCF godown and took away the meat leaving behind its remains.
Tension gripped a village in Budaun district after three cow carcasses were found in a farming field on Moradabad-Farrukhabad highway on Monday, police officials said on Tuesday.
The police officials said the incident occurred late on Monday night in Keshavpur Kala village under Dataganj police station. They said there was dense fog in the area and taking advantage of it, the bovine smugglers slaughtered three cows behind the PCF godown and took away meat leaving behind its remains.
Station house officer, Dataganj, Shorabh Singh on Tuesday said the heads, legs, hide and other remains of the cows were found when they reached the spot after getting information about the incident. He said a case was registered in the matter under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act on a complaint lodged by the village head against some unidentified people.
He said that the remains have been sent for post-mortem examination and hunt has been lodged to arrest the culprits.
