He said that only the Indian government was striving to bring back its citizens from war-torn Ukraine. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is sensitive towards the issue, even as some countries left its citizens to fend for themselves, he said.

The CM said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately called a meeting after the war started and Operation Ganga was launched to bring back Indian citizens trapped in Ukraine. Four central ministers were sent to countries neighbouring Ukraine to facilitate their evacuation. The central and state governments deployed nodal officers to coordinate and update parents about the evacuation of their children from Ukraine. The UP government deployed nodal officers in Delhi to make arrangements to bring students back home safely, he said.

The central and state governments are not only working on the evacuation of the students trapped in Ukraine but are also working for the advancement of their career. The government is in touch with the Indian Council of Medical Research on the issue, he said.

In all, 2,290 students from Uttar Pradesh were staying and studying in Ukraine, 2078 have returned home, the CM said. Out of the 74 children from Gorakhpur, 70 have returned. Arrangements are also being made to bring the remaining four students back. Two of the children are at the Embassy of India in Poland while two children have reached Poltava from Ukraine. Soon the children will return home safely, he said.

The chief minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the safe return of the students from Ukraine. Their successful return was possible due to the international policy of the central government, he said, adding that now that they are back home, these students should focus on their study and maintain mental equilibrium for the advancement of their careers, he said.

The parents expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath for the safe return of their wards. Some parents urged the government to make arrangements for the further education of the students back in the country. The chief minister assured them that the central and state governments were sensitive to the issue.
