Mumbai BMW crash: 21-yr-old deceased driver's prior drunken brawl, rash driving cases surface

The deceased driver of the car -- 21-year-old Shanay Falgun Gajjar -- was last month allegedly involved in a drunken brawl outside 145 Pub.

The Tardeo police investigating Sunday’s BMW crash on the Coastal Road have found that the deceased driver, 21-year-old Shanay Falgun Gajjar, was allegedly involved in a drunken brawl outside 145 Cafe and Bar in Bandra West last month and had also been booked for rash driving at Breach Candy. The BMW has pending e-challans for speeding, blocking a road and jumping a signal.

Police said Gajjar was booked with Davin Sharma, 24, Dhurav Gupta, 21, and Gaurav Yadav, 23, after the August 20 incident outside 145 Pub. A Bandra police constable found the pub open at 1:40am while checking establishments for closing compliance. When he attempted to take the manager to the police station, the four allegedly opposed him and got into a brawl. An offence was registered under Section 221 of the BNS, and provisions of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.

Aaditya Oswal, 21, the lone survivor, is stable after surgery at Breach Candy Hospital for multiple fractures.
