Mumbai: A 30-year-old man allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol died after crashing his motorcycle into an electric pole on the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) early Thursday, police said.

The deceased, Akash Angre, a Chembur resident, was returning home from a birthday party in Kurla when he lost control of his bike and hit a pole on the divider on the northbound lane around 12.30 am.

Police said Angre had attended the party with a friend and had consumed alcohol before leaving.

Angre sustained severe facial injuries in the crash and died on the spot, police said.

The Nehru Nagar police have registered a case against Angre under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
