Noida: Two men were arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting four people at a sweet shop in Sector 66, police said on Saturday.

Police said the duo, in their mid-20s, are residents of Mamura in Sector 66. Two of the injured victims, who sustained serious injuries, were Rinku and Gaurav, in their mid-20s.

“Two men were entering the sweet shop while four others were leaving. The two men suddenly assaulted the four, of whom two sustained serious injuries and were hospitalised,” said station house officer Subhash Chandra of Phase 3 police station, quoting the complaint.

The two injured men lodged a complaint, following which the suspects were arrested, Chandra said.

“We have found no evidence of any rivalry between the two groups. We believe the incident occurred on the spot,” Chandra said.

A case was registered under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Phase 3 police station, police said, adding that further investigation is underway.
